To Meet is to Understand – My Continued Experience with the ASEF Classroom Network

Being a part of the 12th ASEF Classroom Network Conference at Sofia, Bulgaria was one of the best experiences that I will cherish throughout my life.

I have participated in the ASEF Classroom Network Online Collaborations for the last two years and will continue to be a part of it in 2016. Through this platform, I was able to connect to people from the Asian and European countries, know about their cultures, history and traditions.

Going to Sofia for the conference was my first time travelling out of India. I was quite nervous yet excited. In Sofia, I had a wonderful time fostering friendships with the students and teachers; knowing Bulgaria, its kind-hearted people, culture and history and learning more about global collaborations.

Even though it was a conference, the atmosphere was always filled with joy, laughter and the beautiful bond of friendships which seemed to connect everyone. Throughout the conference, I never felt I was away from my country. I felt at home because of the warm hospitality of the hosting school, the 32 Secondary Language School “St. Kliment Ohridski” and the lively organisers from the Asia-Europe Foundation. Every moment, be it watching the Bulgarian dances at the opening ceremony, or visiting the hosting school, or giving the presentation for my project, “Language - A Mantle of Communication”, it was a new learning experience for me. It was indeed an honour to receive the Merit Award for our Online Collaborative project on behalf of the entire team.

I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to my teacher Ms Anjali Handa and my school for introducing me to this wonderful online collaborative platform and giving me a chance to be a part of this conference.

In the end I will like to thank ASEF for letting me a part of this wonderful endeavour and for giving me the opportunity to represent my school in the project.
